Singer, songwriter and actor Tiwa Savage has today released Lost Time, the first single off her ‘Water & Garri – The Soundtrack album. ‘Water & Garri is a feature film from ‘Everything Savage and Unbound Studios and is slated for release on May 10, 2024 on Prime Video with the full soundtrack.
Produced by Khari ‘Needlz’ Cain (Bruno Mars, Drake, Cardi B and Poo Bear (Justin Bieber, TY Dollam Usher) is an intriguing, mellow guitar-led mid tempo record which has Savage reflecting on the woes of a past love and longing to relive better times.
The cohesive soundtrack album was curated by Savage and includes ten brand new original songs from Tiwa, featuring guest appearances from the soundscapes of Afropop, R&B and Hip-Hop. Afrobeats behemoths and Grammys nominated superstars, such as Olamide and Ayra Starr, legendary alternative singer Asa, Cameroonian multi-instrumentalist and singer, Richard Bona, gospel artist Zacardi Cortez, as well as newer talent Black Sherif, Young Jonn, Mystro Sugar and the Cavemen all feature on the album.
The Water & Garri film and its accompanying soundtrack heralds a crucial chapter in Tiwa’s artistic journey, as she sojourns on an odyssey in the world of film making by taking up her first lead role in a feature film, as well as executive producer. The ‘Water & Garri’ film has her playing the role of Aisha, an aspiring and determined film maker who returns to her native home, ‘Eastside’ after a decade of living in the US, following episodes of grieving over a dead relative. Back home, Aisha finds out that things have drastically changed, chaos has ensued and that everywhere is on red alert. As she reconnects with family, old friends and rekindle an old flame—she must learn to live with her scars and face her demons head on.
