Tobby Telly, the Afro Wavy pioneer has dropped his long awaited debut EP, Wavy Wavy Vol 1. The EP is a beautiful piece of art through which Tobby Telly shares his unique story, touching on his struggles and victory. In 2022, we have seen artistes show their personality and vulnerabilities on albums, such as Burna Boy’s Love, Damini, Omah Lay’s Boy Alone and Black Sherif’s The Villain I Never Was. Tobby Telly’s Wavy Wavy belongs to the exclusive list of Afrobeats projects with real depth. Speaking about the project, Tobby Telly says “The project is a compilation of emotional wavy wavy  untold stories. It journeys and dives  into  different  phases of my life, kind of a music summary of my crazy years. The turbulence, sweet, sad, happy, numb, wavy wavy, and uncertain phases of life”.

On the first track, Wavy Wavy Intro does a spoken word rendition, welcoming his fans and new listeners into his world. He talks about the resilience that characterizes being on the wavy side. On what Wavy Wavy means, Tobby Telly reveals that there two sides to one coin. “First, Wavy Wavy that’s the real shit, when life gets crazy, those  scary phases when you feel you never make it out of that place . But here you find balance on the wave of life and you keep fighting everyday till you’re fully on your ground”. “Wavy Wavy is also pure cruise, you know the lifestyle, chilling. The
wavy mood, an easy, calm and peaceful place to be”. The duality of Wavy Wavy shines through on the tape.

On Spaceship, Tobby Telly is a troubled lover boy, who needs a lover to lean on. He sings “I know you toxic, but I want you”, capturing his state of mind, as a man going through the motions, and needing affection he can get. On Forever featuring SHOW SOME MOE, Tobby Telly sings about the pains of toxic love. The way the tracks are listed, it is clear that the singer got hurt by his love interest from Spaceship. SOP (Paris Freestyle) and Komagbon, two tracks made for the ladies and club, represent the cruise side of Wavy Wavy. Eyan Balotelli (as Tobby Telly is fondly called) rounded up the tape with London Studio Skit, an infectious tune that came from a playful
studio session. “The bonus track was actually an unknown taken recorded season . We was just in the studio, couple friends from UK came visiting, so that was me on the mic immitating their British accent, but this time in a roadman way, and we just made a movie and it banged”, he said while disclosing how the track came about.
