OMAR MARMOUSH TO MANCHESTER CITY

49th

This was undoubtedly one of the most high profile transfers of the January transfer window. The Egyptian Striker had been in imperious form for Eintracht Frankfurt since the start of the 2024/2025 Bundesliga season. Manchester City went on a frantic spending spree in the winter transfer window in a desperate bid to put an end to their widely publicised woes.

Following a series of prolonged negotiations, the English Champions came to terms over an agreement with Frankfurt for the winger’s transfer for a reported

fee of €75 million. The winger put pen to paper over a four-and-a-half-year deal with The Cityzens, picking up the number 7 shirt in the process.

The winger has settled to life nicely in England and has hit the ground running. His stunning first half hat trick lifted The Cityzens to a resounding victory in their last league match against Newcastle United.

AMINE GOUIRI TO MARSEILLE

49th

A part of transfer domino involving Omar Marmoush and Elye Wahi, Amine Gouiri was brought in to fill the gap left by Wahi’s departure to Eintracht Frankfurt. Olympique Marseille snapped up his services from Stade Rennais for a reported fee of €22 million following a series of prolonged negotiations, bringing an end to his two and a half year stay at Rennes. Despite occasional flashes of brilliance, his journey at Rennes was overly marked by his inconsistency.

The Algerian forward has been a revelation for Marseille since his signing, recording five goal involvements across three appearances. Gouiri is capable of playing across the frontline and he could prove to be an ace in their unlikely title charge. At 24, he has the potential to become one of the best African players in the world.

EMMANUEL AGBADOU TO WOLVES

49th

The Ivorian centre-back completed a permanent move to Wolverhampton Wanderers from Ligue 1 side Stade De Reims for a reported €20m fee.

Agbadou signed on a four and a half year contract with option for a further year with The Wolves.

The towering centre-back spent two and a half years on the books of Reims before sealing a move to the English top flight. He was signed to bring some order and shore things up at the heart of Wolves’ leaky defence. The 27-year old defender has slotted calmly into Wolves backline and has been an instant hit on the relegation-threatened side, picking up the club’s player of the month award for January 2025.

He’ll play a key role in ensuring Wolves’ continued presence in the EPL next season.

AKOR ADAMS TO SEVILLA

49th

The 25 year old Nigerian striker completed a high profile move from relegation threatened Ligue 1 side Montpellier HSC to La Liga strugglers Sevilla FC

Sevilla secured his services from Montpellier on a five year contract for a reported fee of €5.5m.

The 24-year old striker had a productive spell in France with Montpellier, catching the attention of Sevilla and other European clubs in the process.

He became the third Nigerian footballer to represent the Andalusian side within the past year when he made his La Liga debut on the 1st of February, 2025, coming on as a substitute in a goalless draw against Getafe.

GIFT ORBAN TO TSG HOFFENHEIM

49th

The Nigerian Forward struggled greatly whilst on the books of Olympique Lyonnais. A failed move in  summer 2024 transfer window left him devastated as game time was hard to come by for him in France. Orban joined Lyon in January 2024 and despite occasional flashes of brilliance from time to time, he never really settled down to life in France.

Lyon agreed terms with Hoffenheim for his permanent transfer for a reported €9 million fee with €3 million in potential bonuses.

Orban is acclimatizing to the German league gradually and he is starting to rediscover his goal scoring touch. He netted his first goal for the club after coming on as a substitute against Eintracht Frankfurt, finding the net within two minutes of his introduction to put Hoffenheim ahead in an eventual loss. The 22-year old forward’s move to Germany should help him get his once-promising career back on track.
