Highly rated Nigerian centre-back Victor Osuji has agreed to a professional contract with Belgian top-flight side Club Brugge from Swedish side Kalmar FF for a reported €3 million fee.
The teenage center-back is Brugge’s first signing of the winter transfer window, and he has been handed the number 24 jersey.
He is expected to link up with their academy side Club NXT competing in the Challenger Pro League and undergo a seamless transition to the first team.
The 18-year-old made his professional football debut last season while on the books of Kalmar FF, and he was a revelation for the Swedish Side. Despite the struggles of Kalmar FF which eventually culminated in a regulation at the end of the season, he was a standout performer for the side, earning attention from top European clubs. Brugge pulled ahead of other clubs and successfully secured the youngster’s signature and he became Kalmar FF’s largest net sale of all time.
Osuji is a physically tough defender who never shies away from a tackle. He loves setting the pace for the team’s attack by driving the ball forward from a defensive position.
Victor Osuji has come a long way from Nigerian Football Academy Cardinal and his journey is one of inspiration for youngsters in the West African country.
The youngster has expressed delight at the opportunities for professional development in Belgium and can’t wait to play against the biggest players.
