M1LEZ is a very talented singer, carefully crafted and gifted by Apollo himself. He started his musical journey at age 8, catching people’s attention. Through the years, he continued honing his craft through covers, performing for a small crowd.

At the age of 17, with an immense level of talent and dedication, he’s already gearing up to take over the music industry. Describing his journey in the music industry so far, he said, “It’s been quite exciting. I love the rush that comes with one’s effort being appreciated.”

Outside of music, M1LEZ is a genius academically. Recounting his experience on how he missed out on studying abroad, he said, “I was among the 9th percentile in the SAT 2022. An exam was written by millions, but I was still able to make the top 9 percent. I had eight scholarships and many other academic offers at my beck and call. I lost those opportunities when I was denied a student visa in my home country. I didn’t let it bring me down because I knew that fate had something bigger for me. I don’t see music as a saving grace. Music is my calling; education is just a means to an end, so the temporary setback actually gave me the opportunity to start early, which I would have done later.” He goes on further to explain how the visa denial was a blessing in disguise for him: “What I was seeking abroad was delivered to me on a platter of gold in my home country. I’m now in a prestigious college with the extra blessing of launching my music career at age 17.”

M1LEZ is a student at the prestigious University of Lagos, studying geology. He said this about balancing school and music: “I was raised by parents that believe in and demonstrate the ethics of hard work. There is always time for everything; it depends on one’s priorities. The tough thing about being a professional artist and student is that unlike other students, you have limited time, so I maximize every free moment off school honing my music skills.”

With just two singles, “Life of the Party” and his latest release, “Deny,” M1LEZ has shown that he has a lot to offer. He carries a special level of talent and potential that can carry him to the highest levels in the music scene; his music carries such powerful melodies that are hard to resist, his vocals are angel-like, and his writing is stupendous. He shed light on the inspiration and description of his sound: “I grew up listening to many genres. Fela, Wizkid, Michael Jackson, and Justin Bieber were my favorites. Afrobeat and pop have always been my two favorite genres, but I’m not surprised to evolve as an afropop artist. To be honest, I don’t want to limit myself to one genre. I am versatile and can work with any sound. A rogue has no boundaries. You might as well tag my sound as “afro-rogue.” Music is an avenue for expression for M1LEZ; this makes his songs very relatable and loveable; he is Picasso painting a vivid and realistic image in the mind of the reader, expressing real-life situations in a way very few people can use words to describe.

Explaining the idea behind his latest single, “Deny,” he said, “I felt like singing about toxic relationships because they’re so rampant in society right now. Deny was inspired by real events. Every name mentioned happens to be past relationships and situationships of people I know put together in a song.”

He dreams of collaborating with Wizkid, Nasty C, and Justin Bieber.

On the release of his debut project, he said, “My debut EP is going to be released within the first quarter of 2024, but there’s a sequel to Deny titled Beauty & Da Beast. It will silence all my doubters.”

M1LEZ has set the bar high for himself; he believes he will become the voice of the new era of Afropop.
