Rap music meets RnB on this collaborative effort between Toyeisawesome and Wolei. Titled “Alone”, this song sees the two artistes wistfully reminiscing on love found and love lost and the experiences that have inspired their stance to remain alone, a sentiment that is duly represented by the art on the album cover.

The song opens with the lovely voice of Wolei singing on a sombre piano tune for the opening 45 seconds. “…but I gotta go, my love” he rounds up his ballad before passing the baton to Toyeisawesome. At this point the tempo of the instrumental picks up pace and is made more suitable for rap with the addition of drums. Toyeisawesome proceeds to tell 3 different love stories with colourful lyrics and neat flows. He uses an interesting approach of naming the different women with alphabets – A, B and C – as he chronicles his experiences with them, all of which ultimately ended in tears. “I’m sorry girl I know you want me back, but broken pieces never really fit back intact,” he closes out his verse powerfully before Wolei repeats his hook and the songs fades out.

The lyricism of this song stands out, both artistes manage to capture many relatable emotions in a few words and special kudos goes to Toyeisawesome for his storytelling effort on the rap verse. While the production could have been a bit better, it is good enough to let the vocals of the artistes shine bright enough to pass their message across.
